Executive Summary

Creator Connect implements a Digital Rights Management (DRM) and access-control system to protect the music on our platform, respect the rights of creators and rightsholders, and maintain subscription-based access controls in accordance with App Store guidelines. Our protections are built primarily around server-issued licensing, subscription enforcement, and protected on-device storage rather than client-side cryptographic restrictions.

Uploader Rights Attestation

Users must represent that they own or control the rights to the content they upload, including the sound recording and the underlying composition

User-Generated Content

Platform includes DMCA takedown procedures for any user-uploaded content

Automated Content Recognition

All uploaded audio is scanned using automated content-recognition technology, and matched content is held for rights review before it can be published

2. Technical DRM Implementation

Server-Authoritative Access Control

Protection is centered on access control and licensing rather than on client-side device-tampering checks, which we found to be unreliable and a source of instability on legitimate devices.

Downloads are stored in the app's protected, private storage container and are not browsable by users on a standard device or exposed through file-sharing interfaces

Offline content is flagged to be excluded from iCloud and device backups, and is not included in standard backup/restore exports

Each download is associated with the specific user account and device that requested it, and is governed by that account's license

In-app playback of offline content is gated by a server-issued license that is re-validated when the device is online
